What is Spiritualism?
Spiritualism is the term given to the rational religion based on the knowledge, proven through mediumship, that the human spirit survives physical death. Some people are put off spiritualism because it is a religion, but it differs from other religions in that it is evidential. All religions are based around belief systems but with spiritualism there is evidence of life after death which is given through demonstrations of mediumship.
Spiritualism is based on a number of Universal Laws. For example:
As Above, So Below. This is the first Law of the Universe. On Earth as it is in heaven. The universe loves you no matter what mistakes you make while on earth. You will not be judged by God. You have your own free to make your own choices and decisions in life. The Universe wants you to be happy, fulfilled, prosperous and healthy. When you are ready to receive something from the Universe, then ask in a calm and pleasant manner. The Universe will be delighted to let you have it. Treasure all the gifts you receive. What happens at a Spiritualist Church?
Contrary to many people’s preconceptions, spiritualist churches are not scary places. There are no heavy curtains with ghosts jumping out from them, weird people speaking in strange languages, ouija boards or evil spirits lurking round corners. Generally, the spiritualist church is a very welcoming and friendly place to be in, containing (relatively) normal and sane people.
The spiritualist church service comprises hymns or songs, readings, an address (where the medium speaks inspirationally about spiritual subjects), demonstration of mediumship and prayers/healing. There is usually a different guest medium every week who proves the existence of life after death through their mediumship.
What is an Evening of Clairvoyance?
An evening of clairvoyance, which may be held at a spiritualist church or secular venue, is a demonstration of mediumship or clairvoyance given by one or more mediums. Messages are given out to members of the ‘audience’ who have the opportunity to validate or disagree with the message and the information it contains. A psychic artist might also be present to work alongside the medium and draw pictures of those from the spirit world.
What is a Spiritual or Clairvoyant Reading?
This is a one-to-one reading given by a medium to a recipient. It can take many forms and the method of communication will be unique to the particular medium. Spiritual communicators (mediums) work clairvoyantly (through sight), clairaudiently (through hearing), clairsentiently (through feelings) or a mixture of the three.
Evidential spiritual communication is considered to be the highest quality form of communication as it proves that loved ones, friends and aquaintances have passed to the other side and are able to bring back information specific to the recipient via the medium. Examples of evidence brought forward are: names, birth dates, objects, physical descriptions of the person who has passed, events from the past which only the recipient knows about and memories.
Psychic information is also often given out by mediums. This is focused around the recipient and their life, past, present and future. Often included here is generalised prophecy which may be coming from the spirit world or directly from the medium as they ‘read’ the recipient’s aura. Examples are comments on the recipient’s state of health, recent events in their life, predictions about their love life and comments on their general state of well-being.
